Ruhmote lets you view and control your own Mac from an iPhone or iPad. It is built to work without collecting
anything about you.
What Ruhmote does not do
It has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking.
It does not send any information to the developer or to any third party.
It does not use your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
What stays on your device
Saved hosts and settings. The Macs you add by address, your preferences and the wake addresses
you enter are stored on your device only.
Screen previews. After a session, Ruhmote keeps a small picture of your Mac's screen so the home
screen can show it on that Mac's tile. The pictures are stored only on your device, are unreadable while it is
locked, and are left out of backups. Turn them off in Settings and they are deleted.
Passwords. If you choose to save a sign-in in Ruhmote, it is kept in the iOS Keychain, on this
device only. It is marked "this device only" so it is not synced to iCloud or included in backups to other devices.
You can require Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode before a saved password is used.
Apple Passwords. iOS may also offer to save a sign-in you type into Ruhmote to the Passwords
app. If you accept, Apple stores it and, depending on your settings, syncs it with iCloud Keychain. That is handled
by Apple, not by Ruhmote or its developer, and you can manage or delete it in Passwords.
What Ruhmote connects to
Your Mac. Screen, keyboard and mouse data go directly between your device and your Mac, over your
local network or over a private network you run yourself, such as Tailscale. They do not pass through any server
operated by the developer.
Local network access. iOS asks permission before an app can find devices on your Wi-Fi. Ruhmote
uses it only to find Macs that offer Screen Sharing and to connect to them.
Clipboard (optional, off by default). If you turn on Share Clipboard, copied text is sent
directly to your Mac and text copied on your Mac is placed on this device's clipboard.
Children
Ruhmote does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
